Routine, Urgent & Emergency Houston Veterinary Care
Preventative care is the foundation of our pet care services. We are passionate about helping your pets stay healthy and active at all stages of their lives – from puppy hood and kitten hood to the senior years. The best way to keep your pets healthy is with proactive wellness care. For this reason we recommend annual exams for all pets to assess their overall health, ensure pets are up to date on critical vaccinations, and conduct a full physical exam. Depending on your pet’s age and health history, our veterinarian may also recommend diagnostic blood work. A full blood chemistry panel gives our team a “snapshot” of your pet’s internal health. Changes in white blood cell count, for example, could indicate the early stages of a disease. Since dogs and cats are masters at masking the early symptoms of illness, in many cases a blood chemistry panel is our best shot at identifying a potential health problem before your pet’s overall health is compromised.
During your pet’s wellness exam, our veterinarian will confirm that your pet is up to date on all critical vaccinations. All pets should receive core vaccines as recommended by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). For dogs, these vaccines are typically given in a combined shot “DHPP” and cover distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza and parvovirus. A booster DHPP shot should be given every one or three years, depending on the vaccine manufacturer’s requirements. All cats should receive the “FVRCP” vaccine, which protects against feline distemper (Panleukopenia), viral rhinotracheitis and calicivirus, which are responsible for the majority of feline upper respiratory infections. Just like dogs, cats will need to receive a booster shot for these vaccinations every one or three years.
In addition to pet wellness exams and vaccinations, our veterinarian provides routine pet surgery, including spay and neuter operations, as well as emergency and urgent care. In the event of an emergency, our state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment helps our veterinarian quickly and accurately diagnose potential health problems and provide life-saving care. Emergency care is available during our routine office hours.
